The Happiness Machine,2003 self-made distillation machine This is a long-term project. The first step was made with a self-made distillation machine in the basement of my studio. It as a challenge to make something according to descriptions from other people and, furthermore, in a non-professional, but honest way. The fact that it is forbidden was also stimulating and charming. The next steps were official and my ‘partisan’ undertaking was brought to world. The artwork ‘died’ because it could not be exhibited at official public places inside a certain context. In this way it was absorbed by the banality of the art system and it lost its charm. This project exhists only as a documentation and everything else from it was destroyed.
