Focus Bulgaria at viennacontemporary 2015

In 2015 the traditional focus program of the fair for contemporary art viennacontemporary will be dedicated to Bulgaria. The project is initiated by Vesselina and Katrin Sariev (Sariev Contemporary, Open Arts Foundation), Elena Todorova (president of Hugo Vouten Collection), Vessela Nozharova (Art Affairs and Documents Foundation) and Iara Boubnova (Institute of Contemporary Art-Sofia).

Focus Bulgaria will be held in a 100 sq.m. space in the official exhibition hall of the fair – Marx-Halle. The project will include an exhibition curated by Iara Boubnova and Vessela Nozharova, video presentations from an open call, artists and collectors talks and discussions curated by Dessislava Dimova. The program will be accompanied by a publication and parallel events in the city.

Bulgaria’s presentation in the framework of Focus Bulgaria is a non-commercial project which aims at popularizing Bulgarian contemporary art and establishing connections between Bulgarian and foreign artists, curators, cultural managers, organisations and collectors.

Focus Bulgaria is organized by the Open Arts Foundation and Sariev Contemporary, Plovdiv in cooperation with the Institute of Contemporary Art-Sofia and the Art, Affairs and Documents Foundation. It is kindly supported by Gaudenz B. Ruf, the Ministry of Culture of Republic of Bulgaria, the National Culture Fund, Bulgaria, EVN Collection, and in partnership with the BKI Haus Wittgenstein in Vienna.
